Illinois Traffic Alert System Registration

You may use this form to sign up for the Illinois Traffic Alert System or to update your account information. Enter your user information, enter the alert schedule and road segments, and select the types of travel information you wish to receive. Then press "Continue ..." to sign up or "Update Account" to update your account information. If you are creating an account, you will receive an Email notification that your account has been created, which will include a link that you must follow to activate your account.

User Information

Enter the Email address at which you wish to receive alerts and a password that you will use to access your Illinois Traffic Alert System account. Your password must be at least four characters.

To help us format the alerts properly, select the device on which you will receive the alerts. The style "Formatted" allow the system to format the alert with colors, borders, and so on, but must be supported by the device and software that you use to read Emails. The style "Formatted" is HTML for "Computer." Currently, only the "Plain Text" style is supported for Telephones and PDAs.

Alert Schedule and Road Segments

Select the days of the week on which you wish to receive reports. Next, select one or two time periods during which you will receive reports and for each period, the road segments for which you wish to receive information. An alert will be sent at the beginning of each reporting period, and additional alerts will be sent during the reporting periods depending on your choice of alert frequency. In addition, if you select a speed threshhold, alerts will only be sent when the traffic speed is below that value.

Use the "Suspend Alerts For a Period" section to suspend alerts from the system, e.g. while you are on vacation.

If you wish to suspend Illinois Traffic Alert System messages for a period of time, e.g. while you are on vacation, enter the dates here:

Travel Information

Select the travel information you wish to receive. If you select "Incidents", you may also select the incident severities of which you will be informed. You may also choose to be notified of all severe incidents, whenever they occur. If you do, you may also select a time period during which you will not receive the severe incident alerts (which may span midnight).

Tollway and IDOT incidents are available 6AM to 10AM and from 3PM to 7PM weekdays. We will also make an effort to alert you to incidents that involve hazardous materials, fatalities, or complete road closures on a 24/7 basis.
